| Q |
What is the value proposition of the
real estate? |
| A |
| DNTP has three main differentiators: |
| |
1) Master-planned “world-wide
best practices” design
2) Significant cost savings for all consumers
of bandwidth and power
3) Converged communications and utility infrastructure
supporting speed, throughput, redundancy and
survivability |
|
| |
| Q |
When will the first buildings be built at DNTP? |
| A |
The park’s first building,
'NETPOP 1' that houses the communications hub,
is nearing completion on the north side of the
technology campus. The initial large-scale buildings
are scheduled for delivery in the second half
of 2006.
The master plan calls for about 2 million square
feet of industrial space on the park's south side,
2.6 million square feet for technology companies
and about 600,000 square feet for such uses as
restaurants, retailers and a conference center. |
| |
| Q |
What are the benefits of the Park's technology
infrastructure? |
| A |
The DNTP has been designed
to lead the next generation of campus technology
platforms. The Park’s technology infrastructure
deploys all of the critical elements required
to meet the highest standards (Tier 4) data
center, collocation and disaster/workplace
recovery deployment, and/or data survivability,
mission-critical operations, and the 'five
nines' (99.999%) of network uptime as defined
by The Uptime Institute (www.upsite.com).
Global 1000-type enterprises requiring large
stand-alone facilities to small and medium
corporate, research and education tenants
will have the worlds’ premier technology
resources available at their work station
at a sustainable price-point that is below
the market’s deepest discount pricing.
These resources include: |
 |
Scalable 1-Gigabit
to 10-Gigabit Ethernet (8,000+ times the bandwidth
of a T1) for private Local and Wide Area Networking
and public internet access |
 |
The nation’s
largest pool of managed resources including: |
| |
• Server collocation
• Data storage (NAS and SAN) •
Firewall, e-mail purification, disaster/workplace
recovery suites • Business continuity
planning, testing and implementation •
Partial to total IT outsourcing |
 |
Tier 4 Data Center
facilities available on a partitioned, managed
basis |
 |
Level 7 telecommunications
route diversity for multiple bandwidth providers |
 |
Complete dark fiber
local/metro/regional/national connectivity |
 |
Unlimited power supply with
complete duel grid diversity and 2(n+1)
redundancy and feeder route diversity. |

| Q |
What is StarLight and why
is it important to this project? |
| A |
The StarLight Network (www.startap.net)
is the world’s premier research and education
converged communications network (voice/video/data).
As a primary Point Of Presence (NETPOP) for the
StarLight Network, DNTP provides a direct 10-Gigabit
network connection for any commercial business enterprise
working regionally, nationally or internationally
with the world’s top research and educational
institutions. |
| |
| Q |
What is the Rapid Response Team and
why is it critical? |
| A |
The DNTP Rapid
Response Team is composed of the nation’s
top design -build engineers and related vendors
in technology, utility, MEP, and real estate /
industrial development disciplines. The Rapid
Response Team works as a coordinated unit delivering
a complete basket of services from preliminary
site-selection and design to network migration
and “lights on” support for DNTP tenants.
The coordinated effort of the Rapid Response Team
offers new tenants the confidence and assurance
that their facility will be built exactly to their
specifications, by the best sub-contractors in
their respective industries. Because this service
is initiated from the ground up, customers will
have the ultimate say and flexibility throughout
the build-out process |
| |
| Q |
How is DNTP creating community? |
| A |
DNTP strives to facilitate
community among the park’s tenants to establish
an environment that fosters innovation. Creating
a technology community will help make collaboration
a central element in the park’s overall
identity.
Over time, and with the addition of new tenants
and companies in the park, the community and its
amenities will continue to grow. Initially, a
Park advisory council is being established to
help sponsor and encourage forums for exchange
among tenants. These and other efforts going forward
will establish a focal point for technology collaboration
in Chicago. |
| |
| Q |
Why is DNTP ideal for co-location or data
warehousing? |
| A |
DNTP’s strategic location
in Chicago’s west suburbs makes it the ideal
location for companies looking for network route
diversity and co-location facilities. The park’s
redundant infrastructure and its distance from
the urban center, creates a highly survivable
environment under a variety of disaster scenarios.
Further, stand-by space can be provided along
with plans to convert conference rooms or office
facilities to facilitate workplace recover.
To accommodate present and future demand for data
storage, infrastructure at the Park has been pre-engineered
to maximize connectivity and eliminate the problems
associated with bandwidth constraints. A dual-entry
infrastructure providing Level 7 path diversity
has been designed to support the highest quality
network performance. This design allows for uninterrupted
service, even in the event of a fiber cut or other
direct Central Office equipment failure. This
unique infrastructure design enables the park
to offer a 100% network uptime Service Level Agreement
supporting: SONET/MON, OPT-E-MAN(sm), GigaMAN,
FibreMAN, Ethernet over SONET, and, DecaMAN 10G
bit/sec point-to-point metro Ethernet products.

| Q |
What’s the difference between retrofitting
an old or existing facility vs. building a new data
center from the ground-up at DNTP? |
| A |
The retrofitting of an old
or existing facility can impose significant installation
restrictions on current and future industry leading
infrastructure systems. Alternatively, a ground-up
design provides for complete customization and
integration of the industry’s “best
practices” for a Tier 4 Data Center infrastructure
(core and shell) within a complete value-engineered
design/build program.
|
| |
| Q |
How can I keep up to date with progress
at DNTP? |
| A |
The DNTP web site
(www.dntp.com)
is continually updated. If you choose to enter
your contact information, updates on new service
offerings, on-going Park developments and expanded
resources will be e-mailed to you on a regular
basis.
